About
Have you ever come to a point in your life where you have paused, looked around, and wondered how on earth you ended up here? Looking back over my life I can identify several instances where this has happened to me- for better or worse. I have wandered, I have wondered. I have doubted and searched. I have loved and I have lost, and I am passionate about helping others see that their journey is not as isolated as it may seem. As a wife and mother, as a speaker and a friend, I am working to live in my purpose:
to remind people that they are loved and not alone.
Read on and feel free to reach out. I look forward to connecting with you,
- Summer Shepherd.
Heard on Air
From the FM dial
Starting her career on-air in Chicago while finishing up her education at the Moody Bible Institute, Summer stepped into her calling, using the airwaves to encourage listeners in the love of Christ. Relocating to Madison, WI and joining with Northwestern Media, Summer is now able to minister to listeners in various markets around the Midwest. Through vulnerability, relatability, and humor she connects to her listeners as a friend.
To podcasting streams
In 2018, with a heart to facilitate deeper community amongst the women of Southern Wisconsin, Summer joined with Candice Grey to form "The Connected Life Book Club". They continued together until Candice's departure from Northwestern. Summer now welcomes in a different guest co-host every season and the club has continued to grow. Offering 7-week-long studies of great books, with discussion guides, a vibrant Facebook community, local Community Groups, and a weekly podcast, "The Connected Life Book Club" has seven seasons currently available.
Shortly before giving birth to her twins in 2020, a door opened for Summer to launch the award-winning, "No Seriously, How Do I Do This?" podcast. Feeling the burden of comparison, mom guilt, and the illusion of isolation, she wanted to offer a platform to explore the things we all experience and struggle with as parents, that we don't talk about enough- especially in the Church. Since launching she has been able to sit down with author and experts, recording artists and local parents, creating a safe space for wrestling, questioning, mourning, celebrating, laughing, and feeling seen.
And beyond
In addition to her radio and podcasting work, Summer's theater background has enabled her to lend her voice to commercial spots, radio dramas, and other endeavors around the nation.

God has richly blessed her with the ability to not only speak, but to speak into the hearts of those she's connecting with. Our women request her back every year!"
